The Louisiana Scholars' College, the state's selective-admission honors college of the liberal arts and
sciences, located at Northwestern State University of Louisiana, seeks applications from broadly trained individuals to fill a tenure-track position as an Assistant/ Associate Professor of Chemistry with an
anticipated start date of August 9, 2021.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate must have an earned Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field. Preference will be given to those applicants with interest in the areas of organic chemistry and biochemistry. The successful candidate will be able to teach introductory and advanced undergraduate honors chemistry lecture and laboratory courses, as well as be able and willing to contribute to a team-taught Great Texts curriculum. Preference will be given to applicants with prior college-level teaching experience. The successful candidate will have demonstrated evidence of scholarly achievement. Applicants should be committed to liberal arts education and willing to interact with colleagues and students from other fields in the arts and sciences to maintain and improve an integrated, multidisciplinary honors curriculum.
Qualified applicants will be considered for the Richard Lounsbury Endowed Professorship, which provides additional funds to support research and scholarly activities.
 

 

JOB CONCEPTS:

Duties include teaching 12-15 contact hours per semester; holding 10 office hours per week; advising
students as assigned; directing undergraduate theses as needed; maintaining a research agenda; developing curricula; and working on committees as assigned.
