Job Details

The Department of Molecular Biology is seeking to hire a director at a professional specialist rank for its core proteomic and mass spectrometry facility. This facility provides services to researchers in the biological sciences at Princeton, which include protein identification, protein post-translational modification characterization and additional proteomic analyses. Candidates should have technical experience with protein and proteome-wide quantification (labeling and label-free approaches), with analysis of different posttranslational modifications, and possibly with enrichment of modified peptides. Preference will be given to candidates with research experience in protein analysis by mass spectrometry. Experience with small molecule mass spectrometry is a plus, but not required.

The Director will provide leadership with regard to the current and future needs in proteomics in the department. We seek a candidate who will work with faculty and students to develop project-specific experimental strategies, techniques, and procedures, and who will provide mass spectrometry services, including the interpretation of mass spectrometry data, incorporation of that data into publications, and training in the analysis and interpretation of data. In addition, this individual will manage all operational aspects of the facility including pricing, equipment, website, tracking of samples and turnaround time, and managing other staff members. An advanced degree plus a minimum of three years' experience in mass spectrometry is required; Ph.D. is preferred. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience.

This is a two-year term position with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory performance and sufficient funding. Applicants must submit contact information for three references.

Essential Qualifications: Ph.D. or Master's Degree in a relevant discipline with three years prior experience in mass spectrometry.

Princeton University is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. This position is subject to the University's background check policy.
