Analytical Chemist

Obiter Research is a rapidly growing, privately owned chemical research and manufacturing company.  We have a position open for a Lead Analytical Chemist in our Quality Control department.  The successful applicant will have minimally a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry (advanced degrees preferred) and at least five years of industrial experience.  An intimate knowledge of the use, method development, troubleshooting and maintenance of gas chromatographs and HPLC’s is required.  In addition, the applicant must have a familiarity with routine analysis by UV-vis, Karl-Fischer, NMR, DSC, and other routine organic methods, including interpretation.

The applicant must have good communication skills in English, be able to multi-task, and show good time management skills. The applicant must be able to operate independently, while at the same time coordinating with other groups within the company.  We are looking for a person willing to grow the QC function within our company, someone who will have the commitment to be a pillar of our manufacturing infrastructure, now, and as we grow.

All employees at Obiter Research are expected to be available at least during normal business hours; from 8 AM to 5 PM or as necessary to complete project goals and customer deadlines. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe work place, follow existing policies and procedures including common safety practices and chemical hygiene plan with strong understanding and commitment to safe lab practice and to positively collaborate with fellow employees.

Work is performed with exposure to chemicals. Personal protective equipment provided.
