Summary

The assistant professor is a full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure track appointment within the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The primary responsibility of the incumbent will be in teaching with responsibilities that may broadly include topics within the pharmaceutical sciences, such as pharmaceutics, biopharmaceutics, drug delivery, pharmaceutical compounding, and formulation development, in the Pharm.D. program. The remaining effort will be devoted to service to the department and college, as well as research and scholarship. This position will report to the department chair with a distribution of effort proportionate with the appointed rank. The position is available immediately, and applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled. Preference will be given to those with pharmacy backgrounds or those with previous teaching experience. A highly competitive salary and full employee benefits package will be offered. Non-tenure track faculty positions are renewable annually based on performance.

Principal Functional Responsibilities

1) Teaching: Contribute to curriculum development and delivery for the College of Pharmacy. This includes instruction in, and management of, courses in the following specialty areas: Pharmaceutics / Biopharmaceutics / Drug Delivery. Preparation and presentation of teaching/learning experiences, class materials and examinations in assigned courses, and monitoring and maintaining records of student progress in assigned courses. Mentor graduate and pharmacy students in both, the classroom, and lab. This may also include undergraduate students where/when appropriate.

2) Research: Develop a high degree of scholarship productivity, as measured in quantity and quality of peer-reviewed scholarly publications and receipt of peer-reviewed research funding will be expected. Publish results in both discovery and pedagogy, in appropriate professional journals and books. Present scholarly works locally, regionally, and nationally.

3) Service: Participate in department, College and/or University service responsibilities. Service contributions may also include participation in professional organizations.

Qualifications

Education/Degrees: Applicants must have a Ph.D. from an accredited institution in pharmaceutical or biomedical science, ideally focused on pharmaceutics/biopharmaceutics/ drug delivery with a breadth of scientific knowledge affording the ability to effectively teach/instruct and mentor in the college of pharmacy.

Candidates with postdoctoral or experience with academia, industry or government in an area related to pharmaceutics/biopharmaceutics/ drug delivery are encouraged to apply.

Experience: Possess a record of academic, intellectual, and professional growth attested to by:

• Subject-matter expertise in at least one of the specialty areas: Pharmaceutics / Biopharmaceutics / Drug Delivery.

• Significant teaching experience in the desired specialty areas. .

• A substantial portfolio of peer-reviewed publications.

• Significant track record of research and scholarship

• Evidence of successful mentorship of undergraduate, professional or doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows and junior colleagues.
