The Department of Chemistry at Hampden-Sydney College invites applications from outstanding candidates for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position with the possibility of renewal.  Candidates with a background in any area of chemistry will be considered.  Teaching responsibilities will include general chemistry lectures and laboratories, as well as advanced courses in the candidate’s field and/or mentoring undergraduate researchers.  The teaching load is seven courses over the year, without distinction between lecture and laboratory offerings.  The position starts August 2021.  The major in chemistry is approved by the American Chemical Society, and the major in biochemistry and molecular biology is accredited by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.  Students in both programs enjoy the department’s uniquely research-forward laboratory program.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching philosophy, and three confidential reference letters via Interfolio.  Further questions about this position may be addressed to Dr. Kevin M. Dunn (kdunn@hsc.edu). Review of applications will begin immediately, and applications will be considered until the position is filled.
