Opening for Postdoctoral Associate Lecturer, Department of Chemistry, Boston University

The Department of Chemistry at Boston University invites applications for a research Postdoctoral Associate Lecturer (PAL) opening starting as early as September 1, 2021 and no later than January 1, 2022, with a preferred start date of September 1, 2021. This innovative program, formerly the Postdoctoral Faculty Fellow (PFF) program, is designed for recent Ph.D. recipients planning to pursue teaching-focused academic careers. Of particular interest are candidates capable of supporting the teaching of sophomore Organic Chemistry. Initial appointments are full-time for one year and are renewable based on satisfactory performance. The duties of the appointment are divided roughly equally between teaching and research. The teaching component will involve guided experiences in teaching undergraduate courses with opportunities to develop new curricula and implement innovative teaching methodologies related to introductory organic chemistry. In the past, PALs have led discussion sections and laboratory sections – including a research guided laboratory experience. Research is conducted in affiliation with a faculty research group. Additional information about the PAL program as well as descriptions of our academic programs and research interests of faculty may be found at www.bu.edu/chemistry.

Applicants should submit a letter of interest that includes teaching and research objectives, research group preferences, and a current CV, and arrange to have three letters of reference submitted as soon as possible and no later than July 6, 2021 through AcademicJobsOnline.org, job reference #18808. Please direct email queries to straub@bu.edu
