The Chemistry Laboratory Manager works to support the laboratory needs of faculty and students affiliated with a robust Chemistry Department. In addition to teaching two Chemistry lab courses per year, the professional is responsible for the weekly laboratory preparation, which use chemicals, solutions, consumables, and apparati, for the entire department. Working to ensure safety procedures are met and followed, the Chemistry Laboratory Manager complies with EPA and OSHA regulations, manages all Safety Data Sheets, and performs routine safety checks. Additionally, the Chemistry Laboratory Manager is responsible for maintaining orderly stock rooms and accurate inventory records, while managing student workers. This position primarily reports to the Director of Risk Management/Environmental Health & Safety but will have secondary reporting responsibilities to the Chair of Chemistry Department. This is a 12-month position.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or a related field
- Willingness to perform a variety of tasks
- Good organizational skills
- Computer skills, including use of Excel
- Ability to work and teach labs during the afternoon lab session between 1:00 and 4:00
