Job Details

Candidates are sought for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the lab of Prof. Andrew Smith at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The Smith lab develops nanoparticle-based imaging agents and drug therapies for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, metabolic syndrome, and Alzheimer’s disease. This position will specifically focus on the development and testing of novel classes of colloidal nanomaterials combining organic molecules, inorganic nanocrystals, polymers, and/or biological macromolecules (DNA, RNA, lipids, proteins, and polysaccharides) for applications in the life sciences. Eligible candidates must have obtained a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Bioengineering, Pharmacology, or a closely related discipline within 10 years of the start date of the position. Candidate should have multiple first-author scientific journal articles demonstrating skills in multistep organic synthesis, polymer synthesis, and/or nanomaterials synthesis, in addition to related spectroscopic and materials characterization techniques.
