Drexel University invites applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) position in biophysical chemistry. It is expected that the successful candidate will build a vigorous externally funded interdisciplinary research program that applies a variety of up-to-date spectroscopic techniques to biomolecules and biomaterials. We expect him/her to seek collaborations with research groups in other departments in the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. She/he should have a Ph.D. in chemistry or relevant disciplines and postdoctoral experience. With her/his teaching and research the candidate will contribute to the development of a curriculum in Biochemistry or Chemical Biology. Regarding teaching, the candidate will be in charge of undergraduate major and graduate courses in physical chemistry. The candidate should have a strong track-record of publications in well-established scientific journals. We expect a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and an equally strong readiness and capability to mentor undergraduate, Master’s and PhD students. My primary appointment is at Drexel College of Medicine in the Pharmacology & Physiology; and I have secondary appointment in the Dept of Neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania. I have collaborations with many of the best neuroscientists around the world as we do interdisplinary science using organic chemistry and live animal imaging to study diseases.
