The Department seeks to fill a tenure-track position in experimental physical chemistry at the level of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2022. Teaching responsibilities consist of lecture and laboratory courses in General Chemistry, and undergraduate and graduate courses in Physical Chemistry. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching and will be expected to establish an externally funded research program suitable for B.S. and M.S. students. Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay include courses at the Hayward, Concord, and Online campuses. In addition to teaching, all faculty have advising responsibilities, assist the department with administrative and/or committee work, and are expected to assume campus-wide committee responsibilities.

A Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Chemistry or a closely related field, postdoctoral training and a record of scholarly activity in experimental physical chemistry, a strong commitment to teaching, and the ability to build an externally funded research program suitable for B.S. and M.S. students are required. Teaching experience at the university level, with the ability to teach lecture and lab in General Chemistry, and the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Physical Chemistry, are preferred.
