Job Details
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Texas State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Physical Chemistry at the Assistant Professor rank for Fall 2022. Candidates with research interests in all areas of Physical Chemistry are encouraged to apply. The applicants must have: a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in physical chemistry or a closely related field; relevant postdoctoral or equivalent research experience; a strong publication record; potential to establish an externally funded, nationally recognized research program; and the ability to teach physical chemistry courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates should also demonstrate their ability to develop a diverse and inclusive learning community, have research expertise that complements the department, and be able to effectively mentor chemistry undergraduate and graduate students. Faculty with applicable research interests may have access to doctoral students within Texas State’s interdisciplinary Materials Science, Engineering and Commercialization program. Application materials include: (i) a cover letter summarizing relevant experience, research area and how this complements the department, and teaching interests; (ii) a curriculum vitae; (iii) a description of research plans, and how research activities will be used to mentor undergraduate and graduate students (up to 5 pages); (iv) a description of teaching capabilities and experience, providing justification for the types of courses that you could teach at Texas State University (no more than 1 page); (v) a description of how you will contribute to the development of a diverse and inclusive learning community through teaching, research, mentorship, and service (no more than 1 page); (vi) unofficial undergraduate and graduate transcripts; and (vii) letters from three references.
