The Department of Chemistry at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a 12-month, non-tenure earning faculty level position as assistant in Chemistry (internal title of instrument specialist), anticipated to begin as early as October 2021.

Responsibilities include maintenance of the department’s chromatographic instrumentation (gas and liquid chromatography with a variety of detectors) for teaching and research; organizing and operating a scheduling system for instrument use; training faculty members and students in the use of instrumentation including some teaching responsibilities; method development; and working with faculty to develop new instrumentation-based experiments for laboratory courses. Collaborations in research, proposal writing, and scholarship are encouraged. Minimum Qualifications: A B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in chemistry or a closely related field from an accredited institution by time of hire is required. In addition, the successful applicant must have at least 5 years of experience operating and maintaining chromatography instrumentation.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with a significant breadth of experience with chemical instrumentation, particularly chromatography instrumentation.

The Chemistry Department has productive academic programs including the Chemistry Ph.D., Chemistry M.S., Forensic Science M.S., and ACS -accredited B.S. programs in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Forensic Chemistry, and Forensic Biochemistry.
