The chemical focus of the CNPD3 is on unique natural products, and the goal is to fully exploit the biosynthetic and therapeutic potential of untapped biodiversity for drug discovery. The Center embraces all aspects of natural products research from discovery, biosynthesis and chemical synthesis, assay development, screening and target identification to drug development.
The Postdoctoral Scholar will work independently and collaboratively to synthesize bioactive natural products, perform SAR studies and apply chemical conjugation approaches for targeted drug delivery. Additional duties will include, but are not limited to; mentoring graduate students; assisting with grant development; and performing routine lab maintenance and daily lab duties.
Candidates must have completed all degree requirements except the dissertation or be enrolled in an accredited PhD, or equivalent international degree.
PhD (or equivalent international degree) in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry or related discipline required by the appointment start date. The candidate may have no more than four years of post-degree research experience by start date.
- Experience with multi-step total synthesis
- Natural products characterization expertise and strong NMR skills
- Being able to multi-task with multiple projects and keep pace in a dynamic research environment
