Job Details
UES, Inc. has a Research Scientist position available to work on the Molecule Maker ARES project (see link below) in support of the Polymer Matrix Composites Team within the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate at AFRL. The successful candidate will first optimize existing synthesis reactions for the Molecule Maker ARES platform. Then they will design, set up, and run reactions utilizing this autonomous chemistry platform which integrates synthetic and analytical capabilities to optimize large reaction spaces in a closed loop system. This chemist will work with a team of coders as well as external university partners to push the cutting edge of autonomous chemical synthesis. The successful candidate will have experience with synthetic chemical techniques, such as organometallic coupling reactions, reaction optimization, small molecule synthesis and/or polymer synthesis. Experience with NMR spectroscopy as well as other analytical techniques is preferred. Finally, as this position sits within an interdisciplinary team, experience communicating with a wide-variety of technical roles is strongly desired.
