Applications are invited for a faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in the Chemistry Department at Dartmouth, starting July 1, 2022. Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related discipline. Qualified candidates will employ state-of- the-art experimental physical methods to yield novel insights about structure-property relationships in bio/molecular/materials areas. We particularly seek candidates who, in addition to developing their own innovative research program, will help to strengthen collaborative research both within the Department of Chemistry and involving other Dartmouth researchers, including those at the Thayer School of Engineering, Geisel School  of Medicine, and/or Irving Institute for Energy and Society. Qualified candidates will have the potential to excel at teaching general and physical chemistry courses in our undergraduate curriculum and graduate courses in their area(s) of specialization in our Ph.D. curriculum. They will also be expected to contribute to Dartmouth initiatives in STEM diversity, such as such as the Women in Science Program, E.E. Just STEM Scholars Program and Academic Summer Undergraduate Research Experience. Dartmouth is highly committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive community of students, faculty and staff. We are especially interested in applicants who are able to work effectively with those from all backgrounds, including, but not limited to, racial and ethnic minorities, women, individuals who identify with LGBTQ+ communities, individuals with disabilities, veterans, individuals from lower income backgrounds, and/or first generation college students. Applicants should state in their cover letter how their teaching, research, service and/or life experiences have prepared them to advance Dartmouth’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Applicants should submit via Interfolio at https://apply.interfolio.com/92900 a curriculum vitae, a description of their research accomplishments and future plans, a statement of their teaching and mentoring interests, which may include a discussion of past accomplishments and future goals for training underrepresented groups and contributing to the growth and support of a diverse community of students and scholars at Dartmouth, and arrange for three letters of reference to be uploaded to the Interfolio site. All inquiries and applications will be treated confidentially. Review of applications will begin on October 15, 2021. Dartmouth is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion. In that spirit, we are particularly interested in receiving applications from a broad spectrum of individuals, including women, persons of color, persons from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, persons with disabilities, veterans or any other legally protected group.
