Job Details
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry of the University of Maryland, College Park invites applicants for an open-rank tenure-track faculty position, starting August 2022. Candidates with innovative research programs centered in synthetic organic chemistry or bioanalytical chemistry, who will synergize with current faculty in areas that include supramolecular chemistry, chemical biology, proteomics/metabolomics, structural biology and nanotechnology are particularly sought. The criteria for selection will be proven excellence and/or potential for scientific impact through original research, scholarship, and teaching.
Successful candidates will be expected to develop or enhance vigorous externally funded research programs and have a demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentorship at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including working with students and groups from diverse backgrounds. As members of a key department in the College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry faculty participate in major University and federally-funded Centers and Institutes, including the NanoCenter, the Institute for Bioscience & Biotechnology Research (IBBR), the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center (ESSIC), the Institute for Physical Science & Technology (IPST). Faculty and students enjoy close interactions and collaborations with nearby government labs that include NIH, NRL, FDA, NASA and NIST.
