Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry

The Chemistry Department at Hofstra University (www.hofstra.edu) invites applications for an anticipated tenure-track position in Organic Chemistry beginning September 1, 2022. Any field of organic chemistry will be considered. Position includes teaching Organic Chemistry lecture(s) and lab as well as other advanced chemistry courses in area of expertise. A typical teaching load alternates between 2 and 3 courses per semester. The Chemistry Department serves only undergraduate students. Classes for majors are small, students are motivated, and there are opportunities for collaboration with colleagues and students. Successful candidates will demonstrate the potential to establish a vibrant research program centered on undergraduates and seek grant funding. Experience advising and mentoring individuals from groups underrepresented in higher education is highly desirable. The Chemistry Department offers undergraduate degrees in Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Forensic Science. A Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or related field is required by time of employment.
