The Department of Chemistry seeks a Laboratory Manager at the rank of Associate Professional Specialist or higher to oversee an active research laboratory for Professor Tom Muir. Work in the Muir lab focuses on the physicochemical basis of protein function in complex systems of biomedical interest (see: https://muir.princeton.edu/). The Lab Manager's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, conducting research, oversight of laboratory equipment and facilities, ordering supplies and equipment, budget oversight, supervising laboratory assistants, acting as the lab safety officer, and interacting with the department administration.

The successful candidate should be actively engaged in research and hold a Ph.D. in biological chemistry or biochemistry. Candidates must have knowledge of general laboratory equipment and materials, the ability to work independently within a team environment, and have excellent organizational, record-keeping, and verbal and written communications skills. In addition, candidates must be self-motivated, with excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to supervise others. Candidates must have familiarity with commonly used laboratory equipment and materials, and possess recombinant DNA/molecular biology skills. Experience in protein biochemistry is strongly preferred.
