Lecturer and Laboratory Directors
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications to fill two positions of Lecturer and Director of General Chemistry as well as Lecturer and Manager of Organic Chemistry Laboratories with a desired starting date of August 1, 2022. We seek creative and inspirational educators with demonstrated leadership and communication skills for managing and developing courses. While we are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to the teaching of introductory lecture and laboratory courses in general or organic chemistry, we will consider applicants with backgrounds and training in all areas of chemistry. A PhD in chemistry is required; relevant postdoctoral training or classroom teaching experience are considered as positive attributes. The salary will be competitive and include full university benefits. The initial appointment will be made on a one-year term with the potential for annual renewal (subject to satisfactory performance and by mutual consent). The University of Tennessee has a Lecturer career ladder with promotions that allows appointment on multi-year contracts after five years of service. Applicants should send their curriculum vitae, a one-page statement of teaching philosophy that highlights experience in managing multiple sections, and arrange for submission of three letters of recommendation that address the applicant’s teaching skills and qualifications for the position. Please submit all application materials as one PDF electronically to https://apply.interfolio.com/94326 for Lecturer and Director of General Chemistry or https://apply.interfolio.com/94329 for Manager of Organic Chemistry Laboratories. Please use the application program’s process for requesting and submitting reference letters. Review of applications will begin November 1, 2021 and continue until the positions are filled.
