Summary of Position
The Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Biomedical Sciences (MCBS), College of Life Sciences and Agriculture at the University of New Hampshire (COLSA, UNH) invites applications for a full-time (9-month) tenure-track Assistant Professor of Structural Biochemistry.
We seek an engaged faculty member who demonstrates strong potential to develop a nationally recognized, externally funded research program in Structural Biochemistry, broadly defined. This research should employ biochemical, biophysical, and/or computational approaches to advance the fields of structural biology and cellular biochemistry with focus on signal transduction, developmental biology, synthetic biology, cancer biology and/or cell therapy. A commitment to teaching, service, and the enhancement of diversity and inclusion is also required.
For the successful candidate, the above activities will be bolstered via interactions with several UNH Centers of Excellence. These include the Center of Integrated Biomedical and Bioengineering Research; the Hubbard Center for Genome Studies; the University Instrumentation Center housing a 700 MHz Avance NEO solution/solid state NMR spectrometer and other major instrumentation; the Research Computing Center; and the New Hampshire Agricultural Experiment Station. Graduate student training opportunities are provided through available affiliation with MCBS- administered graduate programs in Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology and Molecular & Evolutionary Systems Biology.
UNH also offers faculty members in-place resources for developing new research projects and collaborations, strengthening grant writing skills, and obtaining external funding. These include workshops, together with personalized coaching through the Research and Engagement Academy, the Center of Integrated Biomedical and Bioengineering Research (CIBBR), NSF ADVANCE (Pathway to Tenure), and the UP-2-NIH programs.
Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of this position are: 1) Develop a high-impact, externally funded research program in Structural Biochemistry; 2) Provide high quality instruction at all curriculum levels via the teaching of courses in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and the development of a graduate course in the candidate’s specialty; 3) Contribute meaningfully to service at the Department, College, and University levels

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications
For competitive candidates, requirements include 1) a Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, biophysical chemistry, or related field; 2) postdoctoral experience (or equivalent); and 3) the demonstrated potential to develop and lead an externally funded research program. The ability to collaborate effectively with a broad range of researchers is also essential, as are commitments to undergraduate and graduate education.
