Job Details

The Department of Chemistry at Saint Michael's College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2022. The individual will have a Ph.D. in biochemistry or closely related field by the time of appointment. Primary teaching responsibilities will be a year-long biochemistry sequence with lab and a single semester comprehensive course geared towards pre-professional health majors. Teaching loads within the Department are 3-3 with laboratories counting as a full course. Our Department is approved by the American Chemical Society and has a strong commitment to undergraduate research. The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain a productive scholarship program that provides opportunities for undergraduate student research. Saint Michael’s College is a private, Catholic liberal arts college in the suburbs of scenic Burlington, Vermont. Founded in 1904 by the Society of Saint Edmund (SSE), Saint Michael's College is a Catholic, residential, liberal arts college located on a 440-acre campus in Colchester, Vermont. The student body consists of approximately 1,900 full-time undergraduate students, 500 full- and part-time graduate students, and 50 to 100 international students in English as a Second Language (ESL) programs. The undergraduates come from 27 states and 13 countries, with about 77 percent from outside Vermont and a gender split of approximately 54 percent women and 46 percent men.
