Job Details

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR in the area of Biochemistry, broadly defined (including but not limited to bioanalytical, bioinorganic, bioorganic, and biophysical subdisciplines).  The College of Charleston Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry invites applications for a tenure-track position in Biochemistry to begin August 2022. The College of Charleston is a nationally recognized, public liberal arts and sciences university located in the heart of historic Charleston, SC.  The successful candidate would regularly teach junior/senior level biochemistry lecture and lab courses, in addition to contributing to the general chemistry curriculum. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers a BA degree in chemistry and BS degrees in both chemistry and biochemistry. The Department is accredited by the ACS-CPT and offers certified degrees in both chemistry and biochemistry. Both programs have received commendations for excellence from the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education following statewide reviews of programs in the physical and life sciences. In 2004 we graduated 38 students. We have a faculty of sixteen and currently have several active external grants (NSF-RUI, NIH-AREA, Research Corporation, and USDA).
