Associate or Full Professor of Empire Innovation, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, with funding from the Empire Innovation Program of The State University of New York, seeks a leading scientist for appointment as Associate, or Full Professor of Empire Innovation. Scientists with expertise in the development and evaluation of novel drug delivery systems, cell and biologically based therapeutics and novel gene, engineered protein and biomaterial-based therapies are encouraged to apply. 

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (http://pharmacy.buffalo.edu/departments-offices/pharmaceutical-sciences.html) is strongly research-oriented, with 20 faculty members from diverse scientific disciplines who share common interests in discovering, developing, and optimizing drug therapies. Our research and graduate education programs span diverse aspects of small molecule and protein drug discovery and development through multi-disciplinary research in experimental therapeutics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, mathematical modeling, drug delivery, drug metabolism and transport, pharmacogenomics, systems pharmacology, and drug analysis. 

We seek faculty members at Associate to Full professor levels, and candidates should demonstrate an established record of excellence in scholarly activity, particularly peer-reviewed, extramurally funded research, and interest in interacting with other academic and research programs. The Department of Pharmaceutical Science is investing in the growth of faculty expertise in the development and delivery of proteins and other biologically based therapeutics. This area, which falls within the domain of translational biomedical research, includes development of new treatments of human disease that employ biologically inspired delivery systems including exosomes, bacteriophages, viruses, engineered cells (e.g., chimeric antigen receptor [CAR] T-cell therapy), and biological constructs (e.g., antibody-drug conjugates, nucleic acids). 

Available resources include state of the art computational and bioanalytical facilities, ample laboratory space, and access to resources of the University’s Academic Health Center, which includes Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Public Health and Health Professions, and Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
