The Department of Chemistry at New Mexico Tech invites applications for an Instructor of Chemistry position, with appointment to begin Fall 2022. This is a full-time, permanent position. The successful candidate will teach introductory and intermediate Chemistry courses and may additionally teach advanced and graduate courses. The candidate should also help attract majors to our program. A typical course load will be 12 credits per semester; summer teaching may be an option, as well. Applicants should have a record of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. A Master’s degree in Chemistry is required at the time of application. A PhD is preferred.
New Mexico Tech offers an American Chemical Society certified Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemistry, along with options in Biochemistry and Environmental Chemistry. A Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree pathway is available to students who prefer a broader curriculum. The Department of Chemistry serves the entire campus, as all BS students must complete a year of General Chemistry. Our Chemistry major is distinguished by its rigorous curriculum, including upper-level electives. A strength of our program is early involvement in research, including mandatory engagement in 2 semesters of mentored research during the senior year. We have well-established graduate programs in Chemistry, including master’s, accelerated master’s, and PhD pathways.
