The College of Pharmacy at the University of Arizona Health Sciences in Tucson invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. The College of Pharmacy is currently ranked 8th nationally in NIH funding and is undergoing expansion in targeted areas of drug discovery. Applicants are encouraged to apply whose research interests are in therapeutics to treat human diseases, incorporating synthetic medicinal chemistry and/or development of chemical-biology tools. Priority will be given to applicants who also incorporate elements of modern drug discovery, such as, but not limited to: bioinformatics, proteomics, and proteostasis. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong research program with extramural federal (e.g. NIH, NSF, FDA, etc.) funding and provide instruction to PharmD professional, graduate pharmaceutical sciences students, and BSPS undergraduate students. Excellent opportunities exist for research collaborations within an active community of basic and clinical scientists in academic departments across the University, as well as participation in numerous centers for excellence that include Arizona Cancer Center, Arizona Center for Drug Discovery, BIO5 Institute, Center for Innovation in Brain Science, the McKnight Brain Institute, Sarver Heart Center, Arizona Arthritis Center, Asthma and Airway Disease Research Center, and Southwest Environmental Health Sciences Center.
