Assistant Professor, Biochemistry/Biological Chemistry

Washington College offers a bachelor’s degree program in Chemistry and is accredited by the American Chemical Society. The Chemistry Department revised its curriculum to focus on the fundamental topics of chemistry in the context of organic chemistry and biochemistry in its first-year courses. The college also has a new Biochemistry/Molecular Biology major co-run by the Chemistry and Biology Departments. This position consists in teaching Chemical Principles of Organic Molecules and Chemistry of Biological Compounds with labs, as well as in-depth electives in the specialty of the candidate. Participation in research with undergraduate students majoring in Chemistry and in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology and contribution to the college-wide first year writing and research program is expected. This tenure-track position is slated to begin Fall 2022.

Candidates holding a Ph.D. in Biochemistry or Biological Chemistry or current ABD degree candidates with teaching experience will be given preference. Expertise working with instrumentation is desired.
