The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (https://www.chem.udel.edu/), in the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks multiple tenure-track assistant faculty in the areas of chemistry or biochemistry who will establish an externally funded and highly visible research programs with a biomedical emphasis. Faculty research interests should synergize with an NIH-funded Center of Biomedical Research Excellence focused on the Discovery of Chemical Probes and Therapeutic Leads (https://sites.udel.edu/cobrediscovery/).

Applicants with diverse research interests will be considered including those working in the broadly defined areas of chemical biology, chemical synthesis, medicinal chemistry, and molecular and cellular imaging. Ideal applicants will also synergize with our center’s current faculty who span the areas of chemical biology, organic synthesis, glycobiology, inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, structural biology, and computation.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry has a robust graduate program with nearly 200 Ph.D. students. The research environment is strengthened by NIH-funded INBRE and Center for Translational Research Awards, an NIH Chemistry-Biology Interface T32 training grant, and an NSF-funded MRSEC center. The University offers state-of-the-art core facilities in NMR, mass spectrometry, proteomics, bioimaging, X-ray crystallography, high-throughput experimentation (HTE), custom chemical synthesis, genomics, bioinformatics, nanofabrication, data science center, and materials characterization (http://corefacilities.dbi.udel.edu/). Faculty will be provided with a competitive, ‘hard-funded’ salary and start-up package.
