The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Delaware invites application for a full-time, Continuing Track Assistant Professor position with a focus on curriculum development and teaching related to all aspects of the new undergraduate major in Materials Science and Engineering.

 

The successful applicant will join the 23-year-old Department of Materials Science and Engineering to help launch the new undergraduate major, which will benefit from what is already a successful and growing Ph.D. and M.S. graduate program. The University of Delaware combines a rich legacy in engineering with a commitment to graduate and undergraduate education and scholarly excellence and offers extensive core facilities and high impact initiatives in materials research, graduate education, technology innovation, and entrepreneurship.  The new undergraduate major in materials science and engineering will prepare graduates for employment in materials engineering and related professions, and for entry into advanced studies such as graduate school and other professional programs. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering or a closely related field. Successful candidates are expected to have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in teaching and curricular development in engineering.  Experience in 1) materials research and development in industry, and 2) design, while not required, will be viewed favorably.
