The Department of Chemistry at Middle Tennessee State University (www.mtsu.edu/chemistry) invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions, one in Organic Chemistry and one in Chemistry Education, starting August 1, 2022.  For the Organic position (#104150), applicants should have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field, preferably with a background in Organic and/or Medicinal Chemistry, while for the Chemistry Education position (#104090), a Ph.D. in Chemistry Education, Science Education, Chemistry or a closely related field (including a minimum of 18 hours of graduate credit in chemistry) is required.  For both searches, post-doctoral experience is preferred.  The successful candidates are expected to develop and maintain active externally funded research programs involving undergraduate and graduate students.  Submit application materials via https://careers.mtsu.edu, including a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching philosophy, summary of proposed research, and unofficial transcripts for all degrees (as Other Documents). The Chemistry Department is dedicated to excellence in education, research, and community and professional service. Home to 30 full-time faculty members, five full-time staff members, over 300 undergraduate majors, and 30 graduate students, the department offers B.S., B.S. (ACS certified) and M.S. degrees in chemistry, and a B.S. in Biochemistry. Our 250,000 sq ft state-of-the-art facility houses the research laboratories for Chemistry and Biology, along with modern classrooms and inviting spaces for learning and study.  The #1 producer of Bio/chemistry B.S. majors in in Tennessee, the Department ranks in the top 10% nationally in awarding B.S. degrees.  The faculty are dedicated to the success and professional development of students from all backgrounds in this highly diverse environment. The College of Basic and Applied Sciences houses 11 departments: Aerospace, Agriculture, Concrete and Construction, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, Geosciences, Mathematical Science, Military Science, and Physics and Astronomy.
