Augusta University’s Department of Chemistry and Physics invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level or higher in Analytical Chemistry, with research interests that align with biomolecular science, to begin in the fall of 2022. A doctorate in Analytical Chemistry or a related field and postdoctoral experience are required. Applicants must have a demonstrated ability for success in research with a strong potential to establish a robust, extramurally funded, and nationally recognized research program. The successful candidate should have a commitment to teaching excellence and is expected to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills. Salary and startup package will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Department of Chemistry and Physics offers an ACS-approved BS chemistry program, a BA in chemistry, and a MS in Biomolecular Science with a concentration in Medicinal Chemistry. The department also houses the Chemical and Biomolecular Analysis Facility which includes a Bruker 500 MHz NMR (Triple Resonance CryoProbe, HR-MAS and BBP), Bruker 300 MHz NMR (QNP), Agilent LC MS, SCIEX UPLC-triple quadrupole MS, Shimadzu HPLC with fluorescence detection, Agilent GCMS, Cary 5000 UV-vis spectrometer, Nicolet iS50 FTIR spectrometer with Raman accessory, Jasco dichrometer, Perkin Elmer ICP-OES, Metrohm ion chromatograph, Horiba spectrofluorometer, differential thermal analysis, and XRD instruments. There are 13 additional core facilities available at the university, offering further instrumentation and services to support research. The successful candidate will contribute to the undergraduate and graduate programs by teaching lecture and/or laboratory courses based upon expertise, program needs, and interest.

Augusta University is one of four research universities in the University System of Georgia and the state’s only public academic medical center, offering 152 degree programs from bachelor’s to doctoral. Augusta, Georgia is the cultural center of the region, site of the Masters Golf Tournament, and home of the Georgia Cyber Center. In 2021, the College relocated to a newly constructed science building on the Health Sciences Campus in close proximity to the Medical College of Georgia, Dental College of Georgia, and Georgia Cancer Center. The university is near Fort Gordon, home of the U.S. Army’s Signal Corps, Cyber Center of Excellence, Cyber Command, and NSA-Georgia. The Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site and Savannah River National Laboratory are nearby.
