The National Institute of Aerospace (NIA), located in Hampton, Virginia, has an opening for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar to investigate energy storage materials for aerospace applications. The researcher will explore synthesis, characterization, processing, and applications of novel energy storage materials for a variety of energy storage systems, including but not limited to lithium-ion batteries, lithium sulfur batteries, lithium air batteries, supercapacitors, and other advanced electrochemical systems. Of particular interest are materials and processes that enable high energy and high-power solid-state batteries. The expected outcome is experimental data that advances the scientific knowledge in the field with requirements for aerospace applications to be the priority consideration. The expected outcome also includes technical presentations, invention disclosures, project reports and peer reviewed publications.
