Position: Senior Scientist – Principal Scientist Analytical Chemistry (Development)

Role Summary

Cerevel is currently seeking a Senior Scientist with significant experience in Analytical method development, testing and validations to join our CMC technical operations group in Cambridge, MA. The person in this role is expected to provide technical expertise in analytical development, testing and validation activities of small molecules within the CMC Tech-Ops group. The Senior Scientist is recognized as a subject matter expert both within and outside the department, representing Tech-Ops in cross-functional settings at Cerevel as well as with external CMOs.

Key Responsibilities

Lead analytical development activities (both analytical development and formulation development support) at Cerevel requiring hands-on laboratory work

Provide technical support for outsourced analytical development activities with CMO partners

Manage activities that will include monitoring process analytical batch data, release and stability data for API and drug product

Present technical data to cross functional teams and senior management as needed

Support Tech-Transfer and validation activities on multiple projects

Provide regulatory filings support by authoring and reviewing CMC sections as needed

Support any quality investigations or events and resolve them in a timely manner

Required Qualifications

Expertise with laboratory instrumentation including, but not limited to NMR, IR, UV, HPLC, LCMS, Karl Fisher, TGA, DSC, Dissolution and compound analysis systems for measurements such as Log D, pKa and solubility studies

Familiar with analytical method developments for small molecule drug substance and oral solid drug product

Familiarity with laboratory software and systems including, but not limited to: Open lab CDS software suite, MassHunter, and Dotmatics for Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN)

Advanced laboratory bench and reagent handling skills

Ability to interact and communicate effectively with laboratory colleagues and project team leaders

Provide leadership in conducting analysis of pharmaceutical materials and R&D compounds under minimal guidance and oversight from supervisor

Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills

Extensive hands-on experience and knowledge of analytical chemistry with some pharmaceutical sciences and chemistry experience

Excellent verbal communication and writing skills

Proven knowledge of cGMPs and associated regulatory, quality compliance considerations in the pharmaceutical environment

Education

Ph.D. (or equivalent degree) in relevant discipline and 2+ years relevant industry work experience or B.S/M.S. (or equivalent degree) in relevant discipline and 8+ years relevant industry work experience
