DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:

The Department of Public Health at Sacramento State currently serves over 450 graduate, undergraduate and pre-major students. The Department offers an undergraduate degree in Public Health, a minor in OHS and a Master of Public Health. The BS in Public Health offers a broad foundation in public health practice, along with specific preparation in one of three areas of concentration: Community Health Education, Healthcare Administration, and OHS. The BS in Public Health with OHS concentration is one of the very few four-year undergraduate degrees on West Coast in OHS and has been approved by Board of Certified Safety Professionals as a Qualified Academic Program (QAP). The Department is also pursuing ABET accreditation for the OHS concentration. The Department offers a Minor in Occupational Health and Safety that is an opportunity for students from departments such as business and engineering to specialize in OHS. The new MPH program offers a concentration in Health Promotion, Policy and Leadership and is designed to connect students with regional partners and prepare future leaders in public health.
