Position Highlights

The University of Arizona invites applications for a Tenure-Track Faculty position in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (CBC), within the College of Science and College of Medicine-Tucson, starting in Fall 2022.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic research environment within CBC and will have multiple opportunities to collaborate with the Arizona Cancer Center, the Arizona Center for Drug Discovery, and numerous other Centers of Excellence.

We seek candidates with an interdisciplinary research program at the interface of Chemistry and Biology, broadly defined. Thus, applicants with research and teaching interests in all areas of Chemistry, Biochemistry, and related disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Duties & Responsibilities

In addition to teaching, the candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous and sustainable research program, developing an excellent track record of creative research accomplishments as well as external funding. Preference will be given to candidates with a potential to collaborate and participate in strategic initiatives on campus.

We will primarily consider candidates at the Assistant Professor level, but highly qualified candidates will be considered at the Associate or Full Professor ranks. Candidates at the rank of Associate or Full Professor are expected to have a high level of national and international visibility and externally funded research programs.

Candidates in all ranks must be committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate level and to an inclusive climate supporting diverse students, trainees, staff, and colleagues.

Minimum Qualifications 

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry and/or Chemistry, or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-doctoral research experience.
• Demonstrated experience in mentoring.
• Experience in obtaining external research funding.
• Established experience in working with diverse communities.
