The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of South Carolina (http://www.chem.sc.edu/) invites applications for an endowed SmartState Chair in Neurotherapeutics, broadly defined, to be filled at the tenured Professor level with a proposed start date of August 16, 2022. Applicant must have expertise in neuroscience, biochemistry and/or biology, and address questions related to brain development and neurogenetic disorders, particularly those addressing mechanisms underlying behavior or cognition.

Qualifications are a Ph.D. in a neuroscience-related field plus at least nine years of relevant experience by the start date of employment, demonstrated significant achievements, international recognition for work in the field, and a track record of significant external funding to support their scholarly activities. The successful candidates will be expected to lead, strengthen, and expand existing programs in a number of Departments at UofSC in neurosciences and also to strive for excellence in teaching undergraduate- and graduate-level biochemistry courses.
