Biola University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Biochemistry, open rank, in the Department of Chemistry, Physics, and Engineering, to begin August 2022. 

Responsibilities:

The faculty member will teach undergraduate biochemistry lectures and labs, primarily for biochemistry, chemistry, and health science majors.  Additional courses to be taught include a course that introduces biochemistry and organic chemistry to pre-nursing majors.  Responsibilities also include advising and mentoring students towards a future career and in the faith, developing and assessing curriculum, and serving on school or department committees.  Additional responsibilities include helping to oversee and maintain the biochemistry laboratories and instrumentation.  Faculty members are expected to remain current in their field by conducting research and being active in their professional organizations.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Biological Chemistry, or a closely related field required, with expertise in biochemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry or organic chemistry preferred.  Preference will be given to candidates who are strong communicators with the ability to relate to a diverse student body, experience in developing student-focused instructional materials, a track record of research and publications, and the ability to lead undergraduates in original research projects.  It is desirable for the candidate to have prior college-level teaching experience and to be able to work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary, small-college environment.
