The SCHOOL OF CHEMISTRY AND BIOCHEMISTRY of the GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY invites applications for a 12-month, permanent, non-tenure track faculty position (academic professional track) to take the lead role in directing our first-year chemistry laboratory program, lecture in both first-year chemistry and either analytical chemistry or biochemistry undergraduate courses, and serve as part of the department’s undergraduate advisement team.

Georgia Tech is a top-ranked public research university situated in midtown Atlanta. The Institute prides itself on its technology resources, collaborations, high-quality student body, and its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The successful applicant will have lead responsibility for the pedagogy, content, and management of the laboratory components of our first-year laboratory courses (CHEM 1310, 1211K and 1212K). These courses have a combined enrollment of ~2,000 each year. The position will work with our director of first-year chemistry, and other faculty, to ensure that the laboratory and lecture components of the first-year courses provide a coherent and productive student experience. Additionally, the position will provide lecture instruction (9 credit hours total per year) spread over first-year chemistry courses and undergraduate courses in analytical chemistry or biochemistry, with at least 3 credit hours in analytical or biochemistry each year, depending on the candidate’s expertise and interests. The position will also provide academic advising to ~40-50 of our ~400 undergraduate majors.

Application review will begin on January 17th 2022 and continue until the position is filled. Start dates between May 1st and August 1st 2022 can be accommodated. A Ph.D. in chemistry or biochemistry with relevant interest and experience is required. A cover letter, CV, statement of teaching philosophy, and a description of past experience and/or future plans to promote diversity and inclusion, should be submitted via our Careers web site at https://tinyurl.com/5856dyt5.
