CHEMISTRY FULL TIME TENURE TRACK FACULTY

Harper College, a large community college in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, is currently accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Chemistry.

Primary responsibilities include teaching 15 contact-hours and maintaining 10 office hours per week for student consultation; maintaining highest possible standards of classroom instruction; applying innovative teaching and learning pedagogies; using chemistry-related software technologies in the classroom; and demonstrating an understanding of current trends within the field of chemistry education.

We are seeking candidates who will demonstrate the following: enthusiasm for teaching; strong knowledge of chemistry; ability to tailor pedagogy to engage students at all course levels, from introductory through organic chemistry; significant leadership qualities at the departmental, institutional, state, and national levels; and commitment to development of curriculum.   Opportunities exist for mentoring an undergraduate research group involved in original research.

Requirements:

• At least a Master’s degree in Chemistry or Chemistry-related field with at least 18 graduate hours in chemistry; PhD in Chemistry or Chemistry-related field preferred.
• Post-secondary teaching experience required.
• Two years of community college teaching experience preferred.
• Organic chemistry teaching experience preferred.
