Position Summary:

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of a full-time, temporary chemistry instructor for spring 2022, beginning on January 11th, 2022. Review of applications begins immediately. The instructor will teach the following courses:  undergraduate Organic Chemistry II (CHEM 342, 3 hours, online) and associated laboratories (CHEM 342L, two sections, 4 hours, in-person), undergraduate Biochemistry (CHEM 452, 3 hours, online), and graduate Pharmaceutical Chemistry (CHEM 551, 2 hours, online).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses online and in-person.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Master of Science in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or related fields is required. A Ph.D degree in the above fields is preferred, with ABDs considered.
  • Teaching experience in web-based instruction and/or distance education is highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated teaching ability
  • Demonstrated abilities in working successfully in an academic community.

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

  • Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Work during normal work hours and may include weekend and evening hours
  • Work requires reaching, handling of objects with hands and/or fingers, talking, and/or hearing, and seeing
