The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for a full time, non-tenured, renewable faculty position to teach the two-semester senior-level chemical engineering process and plant design sequence at the level of Industry Assistant Professor or Industry Associate Professor, with a start date of August 1, 2022.

Responsibilities of the position will include teaching the senior design sequence and participation in other teaching assignments as needed. Experience in the design of processes and/or products through modern engineering software tools (e.g., Aspen) and including risk and economic analysis, safety design, and regulatory compliance is highly preferred. In addition, the successful candidate will possess excellent pedagogical skills to oversee teams of students designing processes and plants for chemical manufacturing while developing their soft professional skills, including working in teams and oral and written presentation of technical work. Candidates must have at least a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering and a record of industrial experience and/or teaching in these areas. An Industry Professor's primary roles are teaching, mentoring, and educational innovation. The position may also entail academic advising, some administrative work, and outreach.

Qualifications

We invite applicants for classroom and laboratory teaching in all areas of chemical engineering with particular emphasis on process and plant design and economic analysis. You should be an excellent teacher. You should have at least a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline and a record of industrial experience and/or teaching in these areas. Candidates with Ph.D. degrees are preferred. Candidates who have recently completed a Ph.D. or a postdoc, with a minimum of 1-year of experience after the Ph.D., and who have a strong interest in teaching are especially encouraged to apply.
