The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Northern Arizona University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Analytical Chemistry. This position is an academic-year appointment beginning in mid-August 2022. Minimum qualifications include an earned Ph.D in Analytical Chemistry or related academic field by August 2022. Preferred qualifications include (1) research experience at the Ph.D. and post-doctoral levels in analytical chemistry, (2) a publication record and extramural funding in analytical chemistry, (3) teaching experience and evidence of teaching effectiveness in chemistry, (4) experience working and interacting with people from culturally diverse backgrounds, and (5) research areas that complement our current research initiatives including cancer-related biochemistry, materials science, environmental chemistry, biology-related chemistry, and employ ICP-MS, GC-MS or NMR spectroscopy. The successful candidate will provide excellent instruction in analytical chemistry lectures and labs, Master’s level courses in analytical chemistry, and in other courses aligned with the candidate’s sub-disciplinary strengths. They will also mentor undergraduate and M.S. students in analytical chemistry and develop a strong research program that leads to peer-reviewed publication and extramural funding. The salary range is $68,000 to $72,000.

The department also operates laboratories in the 95,000 square foot Science Lab Facility which was completed in 2007.
