The Department of Chemistry at Skidmore College invites applications from qualified individuals for two one-year Visiting Assistant Professor positions in organic chemistry beginning in the Fall of 2022. Skidmore is a highly selective, nationally-ranked liberal arts college located in Saratoga Springs, New York with a student population of 2,600, 26% of whom are domestic students of color, 10% are international students, and 15% are first generation students. The College is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the growing diversity and excellence of the academic community through their inclusive teaching. Enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring students in a vibrant and collaborative, undergraduate environment is essential. A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field is required and prior teaching experiences is desirable, although not required. The successful candidates will be expected to teach in the introductory and organic chemistry sequences of our ACS certified chemistry program. The average teaching load is 9 contact hours per semester (18 contact hours per year) where lecture sections are 3 contact hours and labs are 3-4 contact hours. Funds are available to help with relocation.  Support is available for professional development including travel and professional memberships in addition to an opportunity to participate in our HHMI-funded inclusive teaching efforts. Minimum Qualification

A Ph.D. in chemistry, or related field, with a specialization in organic chemistry or related field is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior teaching experience or post-doctoral research.
