Toyota Research Institute of North America (TRINA) is looking for a passionate and highly motivated synthetic scientist to join our material research group. The primary responsibilities of this role are to work in the research labs under senior scientists to develop new materials for carbon-neutral fuel synthesis and carbon capture. No previous experience in this technology is necessary but desirable. The successful candidate will also have the luxury of learning about battery chemistry and may perform some work in this area. TRINA is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan and is equipped with a state-of-the-art facility for material synthesis, analysis, and evaluation. This is a contract position that is renewable each year based upon performance and funding. Please send your CV to John Muldoon (john.muldoon@toyota.com)

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Collaborate well with internal teammates to create objectives and work plans, and then execute them
  • Sound laboratory practices and good judgment to lead and execute a research project in the area of fundamental materials science: Multi-step synthesis experience is required, preferentially with the “Midas-touch” in the lab
  • Strong written communication, notably in the writing of peer-reviewed technical articles for publication
  • Strong verbal communication, notably in the presentation of technical information, both internally and externally
  • Excellent organization and problem-solving skills
  • Able to efficiently complete tasks in the lab
  • PhD in Chemistry or Materials Science is required
  • Post-doc experience is preferred but not necessary
