Job Details

The Analytical Chemist will provide input and expertise to define the most relevant analytical testing for specific projects related to lithium ion battery materials.   They will also operate, maintain, and oversee analytical equipment.  We are looking to add an enthusiastic, highly motivated, self-starting, collaborative individual to the team.  A positive attitude and good sense of humor goes a long way on our team!   

Responsibilities:

  • Identify/recommend the best analytical techniques for specific R&D problems
  • Ownership of Wildcat analytical equipment
    • Ensure PM/service is done and documented
    • Training of users
    • Scheduling
    • Troubleshooting
  • Sample tracking
  • Develop methods on Wildcat analytical equipment for new materials
  • Assist users in getting the best accuracy/precision in measurements
  • Identify/coordinate outsourced analytical testing
  • Research new analytical methods and equipment
  • Stay current on the latest state of the art analytical techniques used for battery materials

Requirements:

  • MS degree in chemistry (preferably analytical)
    •  or equivalent experience in analytical lab
  • Experience in using the following equipment
    • Scanning electron microscope
    • EDAX
    • X-ray diffraction
    • Thermal gravimetric analysis
    • Differential scanning calorimetry
    • FTIR spectroscopy
    • Particle size analysis
    • pH titrations
    • Moisture Analysis
    • Rheology/viscosity measurements
    • Electrochemical Impedance spectroscopy
    • BET
    • 4-point probe conductivity measurements
    • Peel testing
    • Karl Fisher analysis
    • Tap density analysis
