The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, San Joaquin Valley Agricultural Sciences Center, Commodity Protection and Quality Research Unit, Parlier, California, invites applications for a permanent Research Chemist position GS-12/13 ($79,363 - $94,373 per year) with promotion potential to GS-15. The major duties are (1) conceives, plans and conducts research projects to develop/improve methodologies for agrochemical residue analysis in horticultural commodities, (2) quantifies agrochemical signatures and identifies factors affecting the fate of agrochemical residues in horticultural crops in the field and postharvest, (3) develops innovative treatments and strategies to overcome agrochemical restrictions leading to compliance with residue tolerances, (4) ensures that new treatments comply with environmental, human health, sanitary, and phytosanitary regulations, including local, state, national, and international regulations, and (5) transfers knowledge and technology through scholarly publications, patents, and presentations to scientific and industry groups.
