Job Details

Two postdoc positions in medicinal chemistry are immediately available in the Zhang group at the Department of Medicinal Chemistry, School of Pharmacy, Virginia Commonwealth University. Our research is primarily on small molecule discovery and development for neurodegenerative disorders. The work in the lab involves design, chemical synthesis and biological characterization of small molecules as neuroprotectants targeting risk factors implicated in neurological disorders.

  1. One position is on synthetic medicinal chemistry, and candidates with a PhD in organic chemistry, synthetic medicinal chemistry, or pharmaceutical sciences are encouraged to apply.
  2. Another position is on biology characterization of small molecule compounds using biochemical, biophysical and molecular biology assays. Candidates with a PhD degree in pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry, or molecular biology are encouraged to apply.

Successful candidates will also be able to work and communicate within an interdisciplinary team. Fresh PhD graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.
