Nano-C is experiencing an exciting period of growth driven by increased customer adoption of our purified carbon nanotube products, for which we seek an experienced scale-up/research and development/formulations Process Engineer to be a key part of our team.

Process Engineer Job Responsibilities

Laboratory position to support carbon nanotube ink and carbon nanotube purification process improvement, product specification/characterization, process development, and ink formulations development activities including:

  • Validation of carbon nanotube purification and ink-making SOPs, as well as process revision and documentation of such procedures
  • Support pilot-scale purification and ink making; work with operations team to transition formulations from R&D to commercial production
  • Establish product specification through film/ink characterization and specification compliance testing
  • Use various coating and deposition techniques to validate ink performance in the course of internal development and the support of customer evaluations
  • Execute product stability testing and maintain database
  • Purify carbon nanotubes and prepare and characterize R&D ink materials to support customer evaluations
  • Proactively maintain, advance, update, and create SOPs where applicable
  • Perform standard chemical and physical tests of products and in-process materials, and  maintain and develop a database to store ink and film data; proactively steward the database to catch and observe trends/noncompliance

Process Engineer Qualifications and Skills

  • BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering required
  • 3-5 years of experience with lab scale and pilot scale synthesis, and preparation of industrial chemicals, inks or formulations
  • Interest and exposure to a wide breadth of research and development processes, including product development, quality, and troubleshooting
  • Good communicator with an ability to collect, analyze, interpret, organize and present cumulative device performance data
  • Capability to work independently and to generate new solutions while being a team player
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally
