The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Eastern Regional Research Center (ERRC), Diet and Gut Microbiome research group in the Dairy and Functional Foods (DFF) Research Unit in Wyndmoor, PA is seeking a POSTDOCTORAL RESAERCH ASSOCIATE (Molecular Biologist), GS-11, for a TWO-YEAR appointment to investigate the interactions between diet, nutrition, the gut microbiota, and human health. Ongoing projects aim to determine how dietary components and other compounds affect the population dynamics and metabolome of the gut microbiota in the small and large intestinal models in vitro, as well as how metabolites program cell growth profile. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, or genetic engineering and be skilled in mammalian tissue culture, bacterial culture, immunostaining, qRT-PCR, and have experience with genetic manipulation of mammalian and/or microbial cells (i.e., Crispr/Cas9, shRNA/siRNA, bacterial transformation). Salary is commensurate with experience ($72,340 - $94,037 annually) plus benefits and is locally funded. Citizenship restrictions apply.
