The A.R. Smith Department of Chemistry and Fermentation Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track nine-month faculty position in Fermentation Sciences with a start date of January 17, 2023. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Fermentation Sciences, Food Science, Beverage Science, Engineering or a related field. Candidates who are ABD will be considered, but the position requires completion of all degree requirements before the beginning date of appointment. While all applications will be considered, postdoctoral experience with a research focus in wine chemistry, enology, or viticulture is encouraged. The candidate must have the experience necessary to instruct courses in wine production, wine science, and viticulture as well as chemistry lectures and labs. The individual must demonstrate a dedication to excellence in teaching and scholarship as well as a strong commitment to service and community engagement and be prepared to lead wine production activities with students and local wineries. The successful candidate will demonstrate a sincere commitment to promoting advocacy, diversity, equity, inclusiveness, and social justice, as evidenced by prior innovative and successful efforts.

The successful applicant is expected to initiate and sustain an externally funded undergraduate research program. Research should adhere to industry and academic best practices and incorporate a risk-based assessment. The faculty member will be expected to participate in departmental and/or university service, hold office hours for students, and work within the Chemistry and Fermentation Sciences Department.
