Western Colorado University invites applications for a lecturer position in biochemistry.  Primary teaching responsibilities include lecture and laboratory courses in biochemistry, general chemistry, and other introductory courses in support of the degree programs in chemistry and biology.

The program in chemistry has approximately 60 majors and minors; three additional full-time faculty members; and a stockroom/laboratory coordinator. The program in biology has approximately 300 majors and minors; eight full-time faculty members; and a laboratory coordinator. Both programs have a comprehensive undergraduate curriculum.

DUTIES:  The position requires teaching 24 semester credits per academic year with the possibility of some reassigned time to conduct biochemistry related research involving undergraduates.  Responsibilities also include academic advising, assessment, and student recruitment.

QUALIFICATIONS:  A doctorate in relevant field is required.  Candidates must possess a strong commitment to innovative undergraduate education and demonstrate excellence in teaching in both lecture and laboratory settings.  Collegiality and professional flexibility are characteristic of the department and will be sought in the successful candidate.

SALARY:  $45,000.  Benefits include an employee/employer shared contribution retirement plan, life and health insurance and dependent tuition benefits after one year.
